Weeks 1-4

Learn the foundational healthcare knowledge and basic science you need to become a well-rounded Medical Assistant. Topics include healthcare systems, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

Weeks 5-8

Master the ins and outs of clinical patient care, such as infection control, phlebotomy, EKG, as well as patient care coordination and education.

Weeks 9-13

Learn how to handle routine administrative responsibilities and get a good grasp of medical law and ethics as well as excellent customer service.

What is the refund policy?
Students may drop out within the first two weeks of class and get a full tuition refund. Feel free to attend class to get a sense if this program is right for you. Please note the $59 enrollment fee to secure your spot in class is not refundable.
What tuition payment options are available?
Students have the option to pay upfront or in installments with a flexible payment plan. Stepful offers partial scholarships. Reach out to our admissions team for more information.
What are the requirements to enroll in your medical assistant program?
All you need is a copy of your high school or GED diploma and a stable internet connection for our course. That's all you need to learn the skills required to succeed as a medical assistant and get your medical assistant certification online.

The medical assistant program is 100% online. The medical assistant program is followed by an optional, in-person unpaid internship. Stepful has partnerships with clinics across the nation and will do its best to find a clinic in a convenient location for the student in California.

Are there restrictions on what a medical assistant can do in California?

California requires specific training hours to be met for a medical assistant who administers any medications. This training includes 10 hours of training in administering injections and performing skin tests; 10 hours of training in venipuncture and skin puncture for the purpose of withdrawing blood; at least 10 of each intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections and 10 skin tests, and/or at least 10 venipuncture and 10 skin punctures; and 10 hours of training in administering medical by inhalation.

Both of these are medical assistant certifications that are well-respected by employers. The main difference is the organization that offers the certification. In addition, CCMAs are typically trained more on clinical responsibilities compared to CMAs.
