Tuition for our Dental Assistant program includes access to the online learning platform, instructor-led Zoom classes, focused DANB-RHS certification exam prep, dedicated 1:1 coaching, and career services.

You don't need to purchase any textbooks or extra materials to succeed at Stepful.

Students may drop out of our Dental Assistant program within the first two weeks of class and get a full tuition refund. Feel free to attend an online class to get a sense if this program is right for you.

Our Dental Assistant program has 100% online classes and is followed by an optional in-person, unpaid externship to get hands-on experience. Following your coursework, we’ll match you with a dental provider in your area based on the provider’s availability. This is one of the many things that sets us apart from other online dental assistant programs.

We prepare you for the DANB Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) certification exam. Passing this exam qualifies you to perform dental X-rays in over 30 states, a valuable skill that many employers look for when hiring Dental Assistants. Some states have additional requirements beyond the RHS exam, so we recommend checking DANB's state-by-state requirements to see what is needed in your state to perform X-rays.

It’s important to note that while the RHS certification helps you qualify for entry-level Dental Assistant roles, it is different from the certifications required to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA).

The CDA credential can be attained with 3,500 hours of work experience as a Dental Assistant and two additional exams. Our program is designed to quickly prepare you for employment as a Dental Assistant, with the opportunity to take the RHS exam to enhance your qualifications.

Becoming a Dental Assistant is a great first step in the dental field, and there are several ways to grow your career. Many Dental Assistants choose to gain additional certifications to become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), which allows them to take on more responsibilities and qualify for higher-paying roles.

In some states, working as a Dental Assistant can also accelerate the path to becoming a Dental Hygienist, a role that offers greater independence and earning potential. Others use their experience to move into dental office management, where their knowledge of dental procedures helps them succeed in administrative leadership roles such as Dental Office Manager or Practice Manager.
